Consistency VS Spontinity
Posted by AAS Staff Artsit on 11/18/2011
Consistency is safe, yet for Sumi art, spontaneity is more valued. When I paint I am guided by my mood, not not by printing technique. Embrace the imperfection and enjoy the energy from me onto the painting. Something about the Chop: lots of chips on characters, on borderlines could be created intentionally or by accident. Some great masters' seal could have very fine line characters, and neatly arranged, but full of energy. Only machine carved, or commercially done chops look "perfect" but no energy.
